Raleigh Russian School Znaika Scholastic Chess Tournament

Westover United Methodist Church 
300 Powell Drive; Raleigh, NC 27606 
Entry Fee:
$13.00 with preregistration via e-mail - click here for info on how to do this
$6.00 if you attend school in Nash, Wilson, Edgecombe, Pitt, Wayne, or Greene counties.
FREE: to girls playing in the Girls State Championships on the 27th
$20.00 at site (without preregistration)
Awards:
Trophies to 1st in each section (all those tied for 1st will get trophy)
For those who have no more room left in their trophy case there will be chess books or chess equipment that may be selected instead of a trophy.
NEW: Team Trophies will be awarded to all teams scoring better than 50%
Teams are players from same school, same grade range (K-5, 6-8, or 9-12)
Best 3 scores from team count.
Format: 4RR (round robin - quads): G/30 (G/30 d5) - 4 player sections by Rating
Open to K-12  
Rounds:
1:45pm... others start when all sections finish.
Awards approximately 5:30 pm
Check In:
1:00 - 1:30 (anyone not checked in by 1:30 may not get to play)
Byes:
None. Please, you may play only if you can commit to all 3 rounds.
Directions: Map 
Take beltline I-440 to Western Blvd exit 2B - go west about .8 miles then right on Powell - then a few hundred feet the location will be on left and the building is behind the main church.
The are many alternate routes when coming in from Durham & Cary so check for directions that might be best for where you are coming from.

United States Chess Federation (USCF) Membership Required
For those who have never before been a USCF member, the normal entry fee will include a single tournament membership; however, if you would like to change this to a 1 year scholastic premium membership you may do so at the tournament for an additional $10. Other membership options may be available and more appropriate - please see the tournament director for details. 
USCF Dual Rated (both Regular and Quick)
No Drop-offs
TD reserves right to alter the format of the tournament which includes things like, but not limited to:
  • Making the bottom section a swiss and adding a 4th round if time permits.
  • Using most current ratings rather than official March ratings.
  • Splitting siblings/schoolmates up in two different sections.
  • For sections that finish early extra rated games not counting towards winner of the section may be played.
